Our mission is to see software clearly.

Over nearly 3 decades working with complex software systems we noticed a funny thing: the designs of many of the world’s software systems are pretty poorly understood. And this poor understanding costs companies billions of dollars every year.

Yes, there are loads of useful tools for analyzing application performance, databases, networks and more. But metrics and alerts are not the same thing as understanding.

Traditional 'discovery' tools are expensive, cumbersome and usually completely network-centric — very few companies use them beyond the infrastructure layer.

In fact, the state of the art for actually understanding most software systems is “wetware” — a couple hardened veterans know the evolutionary tale and explain it to the troops on demand.

As software systems explode in both importance and complexity, Stackray believes the world deserves to see them clearly. Companies simply cannot afford to rely on manual, incomplete, tribalistic views of the systems they depend on.
